The project is located in North Crete, on a sloping and long plot overlooking the Aegean Sea. It is a villa that was designed to offer its users an uninterrupted view.The landscape and the special shape of the plot formed the starting point for the composition and led to the creation of a narrow and stepped building which unfolds following the relief of the ground.The composition consists of clean forms. Bold stone elements create the base of the building and “flying” slabs. Its strict geometry is in intense dialogue with the natural landscape and is harmonized by the use of local stone at the “bold” elements of the composition. Stone elements are used to form a clean geometry of volumes and walls on which ‘flying’ slabs are placed. The emphasis on the slabs as a compositional element underlines the stepping of the building which follows the contours of the terrain. At the same time, these horizontal elements balance with the rest geometry of the composition.The entrance at the building is through a “glass” hall where on either side is the dining-kitchen area and the living room. The expansion of everyday living spaces is done in separate outdoor spaces which offer different qualities. These spaces are located at different heights and communicate with each other through small staircases.At the same time, the large glazing surfaces create the feeling of continuous communication between the interior and exterior spaces.
